Cherokee County Commissioners approved entering into an interlocal agreement with City of Jacksonville, during the regular meeting of Commissioners Court held Tuesday Sept. 8.
The agreement and corresponding contract for the purchase of a building for $278,850 is located at 210 West Larissa Street in Jacksonville.
The structure will serve as an Operation Center and substation for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
Commissioners also heard and accepted the regular Sheriff’s report.
The Court also agreed to set the speed limit on County Road 2801 to 35 miles per hour.
The action followed a public hearing.
Commissioners also approved a motion to number a private road 11512.
The Court also discussed long-term goals and planning for the County.
Discussions are ongoing, no decisions were made Tuesday.
A request by Pct. 3 Commissioner, Patrick Reagan, to transfer $10,000 from the Building Maintenance and Repair fund to the Road oil and Materials fund was approved.
Commissioners also approved a final plat to create Cedar Pines RV Park on 2.7 acres. The action also creates a private road to allow access to the property.
This item was previously part of the consent agenda. The plat was pulled and considered separately.
Other consent agenda items were also approved before the meeting was adjourned.
Cherokee County Commissioners’ Court meet regularly on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month.
Commissioners Court meetings are being held at 9 a.m. in the County courtroom inside the Cherokee County Courthouse in Rusk.
